Glaitness School offers 3 sessions free of charge badminton, football and netball taster sessions in September. Once the taster sessions for netball and badminton are complete, parents are asked if they wish their child to continue. If they do, then there is a small cost to cover Pickaquoy hire and to participate in competition against other schools throughout Orkney. Although these clubs are mainly offered to P5-P7 pupils, there are opportunities for some P4 pupils to join too depending on the likely number of participants, number of leaders and space booked at Picky.
The free taster sessions for football are used to select pupils to play for the Glaitness Schools Primary League competitions. Selection is based not only on ability but on positive behaviour and attitude. It is a privilege to represent the school.
The clubs are very much dependent on parents and volunteers to help run them. If you think you would be interested in being a club leader, please contact the school on 01856 873648.
Mondays 4-5pm Netball
Tuesdays 5-6pm Football
Wednesdays 6-7pm Badminton
