Glaitness School offers 3 sessions free of charge taster sessions in badminton and netball each September. Parents and caregivers are then asked if they wish their child to continue. For those that continue, there is a small charge made to cover Pickaquoy hire and competition fees for tournaments involving other schools throughout Orkney. Although these clubs are mainly offered to P5-P7 pupils, there may be opportunity for some P4 pupils to participate depending on space and the number of volunteer helpers.
There are also 3 free taster sessions for football, and these are specifically used to select pupils to play for the Glaitness Schools Primary League competitions. Selection is based not only on ability but on positive behaviour and attitude. It is a privilege to represent the school. Again, for those that continue, there is a small charge made to cover Pickaquoy hire and competition fees for tournaments involving other schools throughout Orkney.
The clubs are very much dependent on parents and volunteers to help run them. If you would be interested in being a club leader, please contact the school on 01856 873648.
